Terms of Use

Welcome to HomeGround (“HG”), a digital community designed to support connection, learning, collaboration, and compassionate action. HG is owned and operated by the Global Compassion Coalition (“GCC”, “we”, “us,” or “our”).

HG is hosted on Mighty Networks’ software platform. These Terms of Use, which apply to all HG users, are intended to supplement, and in some cases reiterate, Mighty Networks’ Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and other policies agreed to during account registration.

Age Eligibility

Users must be 18 years or older, or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, to create and use an HG account.

Conduct Toward Other Users
You agree to:

Share personal experiences, projects, or ideas only in ways that are relevant, respectful, and consent-based.
Treat other users with respect, dignity, and empathy in all interactions.
Communicate thoughtfully, even when opinions differ.
Take responsibility for your words, actions, and their impact.
Uphold safety, inclusion, and belonging for all users.
Respect diverse communication styles and neurodivergence.
Ask for clarification when needed and approach misunderstandings with generosity; and
Encourage learning and growth, and support others in doing the same.

HG Account Integrity
You agree to:

Report unsafe or concerning behavior to GCC as outlined below.
Maintain accurate account information.
Take reasonable steps to ensure that others do not have access to your HG login credentials or use your HG account; and
Notify Mighty Networks immediately at help@mightynetworks.com if your account is compromised.

Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited on HG:
Harassment & Bullying

Threats, intimidation, or repeated unwanted contact;
Emotional abuse, name-calling, or demeaning language; and
Targeted attacks on identity, background, or personal characteristics

Hate Speech & Discrimination

Any language or conduct that demeans or excludes based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, neurodivergence, age, or other characteristic.

Sexual Harassment & Exploitation

Unwanted sexual attention, advances, or solicitation;
Sharing sexual content or images without consent; and
Cyberflashing or sending explicit material to others without permission.

Protection of Minors

Content or interactions that exploit, sexualize, or harm minors is strictly prohibited.
Suspected abuse will be reported to authorities.

Self-Harm & Mental Health

Promotion, glorification, or encouragement of self-harm or suicide.
Crisis resources such as 988 Lifeline and Crisis Text Line should be referenced when appropriate.

Violence & Illegal Activity

Threats, encouragement, or depiction of violence toward others;
Illegal activities including drug trafficking, weapons, hacking, or gambling; and
Facilitating criminal activity on or off-platform that affects the community.

Misinformation & Disruption

Sharing false, misleading, or harmful information;
Deliberately disrupting community discussions or events;
Spamming or unsolicited promotion outside approved channels; and
Attempting to reverse-engineer, copy, or exploit the platform’s systems

Privacy Violations & Consent Breaches

Sharing another user’s private information without consent;
Recording or reposting private content without permission; and
Misrepresenting identity, affiliation, or intent.

Partisan Speech

GCC, which owns and operates HG, is a 501c3 nonprofit, and is therefore restricted by the IRS from “partisan” activity: specifically, the endorsement of a particular candidate in a US election or of a particular law being considered in a US legislature. Therefore, while we welcome posts and interactions regarding societal issues and policies that could change systemic sources of suffering, we ask that you refrain from posting about particular candidates in US elections or particular laws being considered in a US legislature.

Content Moderation & Violation Enforcement

We reserve the right to monitor, but have no obligation or liability for monitoring, any posts, interactions, or other activity on HG.
HG moderators will review all reported content.
Consequences for content that violates these Terms of Use may include warnings, content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from HG at the sole discretion of HG moderators.
Serious violations, including threats to safety or illegal activity, may be reported to law enforcement. Note that content or interactions that exploit, sexualize, or harm minors will be reported.
Behavior outside HG that impacts the community may also result in suspension or removal from HG.

GCC Liability

While GCC aims to provide a safe and supportive environment on HG, we do not control the actions of individual users.
All communications shared within HG reflect the personal views and opinions of the individual speaker or writer, and do not necessarily represent the views of GCC.
GCC, as the owner and operator of HG:
- Is not responsible for disputes, disagreements, or harm arising from user interactions.
- Cannot guarantee accuracy, completeness, or suitability of content shared by users.
- Does not provide professional, medical, legal, or mental health advice.
- Is not liable for any personal, emotional, or material consequences of participation.
- Cannot control actions outside of HG, even if they affect HG users.

Licensing of Content

By posting content, you grant GCC a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display it within HG.

Privacy & Data Use
HG values your privacy and the responsible use of your information, and adheres to GCC’s Privacy Policy. The HG/GCC Privacy Policy works in conjunction with Mighty Networks’ Privacy Policy.
Course Participants
If you are enrolled in a GCC educational program hosted on HG, the following additional terms apply:

Educational Nature: Our courses are for educational purposes only and are not a substitute for professional mental health care or medical treatment.
Personal Responsibility: Participants are responsible for managing their own wellbeing. If you have a history of trauma, psychosis, or serious mood disorders, please proceed with caution and consult a professional if needed.
Intellectual Property: All course materials (videos, workbooks, and graphics) are the intellectual property of GCC. These are for your personal use only and may not be shared or distributed without permission.

Updates
HG’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any updated version will be indicated by an updated “Revised” date and will be effective as soon as accessible.
